Working together to employ every heart!
We are an imperfect family seeking to restore something beautiful on earth. In addition to work, sports, and daily chaos, we run a small business that generates money for us to invest in others.
50% of the profits from Restore SB are invested in friends who are loving, teaching and employing others. The other 50% is invested this way:
Tithe: 10% - Tax: 30% - Time:10%
Our kids are very involved so please expect the unexpected!
In addition to investing funds, I (mom) also trade in my 'while the kids are at school time' to volunteer for my friend's organizations.
We hope we get to meet your family too, and that you will be in the business of restoring something beautiful WITH us!
Okay, here's the part where I share my heart and why I started this biz! The short why is that I grew up in poverty (at least by America's standards) and realized firsthand the challenges you face when there are barriers to education and employment. I have a deep regard in my heart for others in this world who also experience these barriers. I believe we as humans can make a way WITH those the world may least expect.
I have had the great honor of working with my friends in Kenya and Zimbabwe who I've known for over a decade. I originally met all of them while working for an incredible international organization back in Chicagoland. When I left the company after moving to Cali my relationship with the leaders continued to grow. We care deeply for each other, our families, and our calling to develop 'just relationships' on earth.
The most foundational way we work together is by having a regular conversation about what is going on in each other's hearts and lives. This typically results in creative education and employment ideas based on real needs in their communities. Sometimes these conversations lead to new efforts and other times we brainstorm ways of expanding existing efforts. No matter what we do it starts with the heart.
Restore SB is a sole proprietorship business that has two main facets: ministry and business.
Ministry: I'm investing my time, two Master's degrees, and eighteen years of program development experience into my work with friends and leaders worldwide. In addition to vision and program development, I write program proposals, and at times facilitate crowdfunding campaigns to support their organizations. I also love creating relevant teaching tools such as 'Dirt to Use' (D-U) & the made book. One-on-one collaboration is available to leaders who would like to embed D-U principles into their program and staff development goals. Local consult/volunteering can also include: Growing with ministry leaders to develop thriving relationships, systems, and policies within their organizations. All the consultation and development work I do with leaders in Kenya, Zimbabwe, and California is free of charge.
Business: For the past few years our family has been accepting item donations and selling them via online thrift apps such as Facebook Marketplace, Offer Up, etc. In addition to our online thrifting, we generate support by raising sweet Goldendoodle pups for amazing families! This has allowed us to invest in specific ideas and efforts the leaders we work with are doing with their communities (most commonly, farming initiatives). We believe that in time God will help us grow these at-home efforts so that Restore SB can become a physical workplace example of how fun and successful it is to work differently together and employ every heart!
